Richelieu Rock Day trip diving

If you have just one day to dive in Thailand, the best dive site is Richelieu Rock.

Our day trip with two dives to Richelieu Rock departs three days per week between November and April. Trips run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Departures from Khao Lak are at 8.30am, returning at about 4pm.

The price is 4,950 baht per diver plus 700 baht national park fee. If you need to rent equipment that's just 400 baht extra.

If you are staying in Phuket we can arrange transfers to the boat for you. It'll be aong day but worth it if you see a whale shark!

Liveaboard from Phi Phi

MV Saimai is one of the only liveaboards with departures from Phi Phi Islands. Most boats depart from Phuket or Khao Lak but Saimai starts in Phi Phi. Departure and return times are scheduled to work with the fast ferry schedules so if you are on Phuket, Krabi or Koh Lanta you can get to Phi Phi in time to join Saimai. With a Saimai trip you can start in Phi Phi and finish in Phuket, or vise versa, it's totally flexible and we arrange the transfers for you.

Saimai itinerary:

Phi Phi overnight itinerary: Depart Monday morning, return Tuesday evening. Or departing Saturday morning returning Sunday evening.
Hin Daeng, Hin Muang Phi Phi and Koh Haa itinerary. Departing Wednesday morning returning Friday evening.
Start any cruise from either Phuket, Phi Phi, Krabi or Koh Lanta!
You can join Saimai from Phuket, Phi Phi, Krabi or Lanta. You can also finish their program in Phuket, Phi Phi, Krabi or Lanta. We will take care of the transfers. Ultimate flexibility. This is how it works:
  • Starting in Phuket you will either join Saimai in Phuket (Monday) or transfer to Saimai in Phi Phi by fast ferry (Wednesday and Friday). You can depart Saimai in Phi Phi, or transfer back to Phuket, or transfer on to Ao Nang or Koh Lanta by ferry.
  • Starting in Phi Phi you will join Saimai at the pier. You can depart Saimai in Phi Phi, or transfer on to Phuket, Ao Nang or Koh Lanta.
  • Starting in Koh Lanta or Krabi you will be transfered to Phi Phi by ferry to join Saimai at the pier. You can depart Saimai in Phi Phi, or transfer on to Phuket, or transfer back to Ao Nang or Koh Lanta.
Phuket-Phi Phi-Phuket transfers are done with Andaman Wave Master Jet Cruiser in premium class. JetCruiser9 is smooth, fast and comfortable. It has an aircon saloon on the upper deck with sofas, complimentary drinks and even free local beers on the return trip. Premium class passengers also have access to a private sun deck and private toilet.

Phuket airport minibus transfers

A customer just asked me how much a shared minibus transfer costs from Phuket airport to Karon beach so while I was at the airport this week I took a photo of the prices board. It's a little difficult to read but the second column in from the right is the price of minibus transfers.

Phuket Town = 100 baht
Patong Beach = 150 baht
Kata, Karon Beach = 180 baht

For other areas you'll need to get a taxi. You can either get one from the limousine counter, or from one of the touts (be ready to haggle). Or walk out of the airport building, turn right and walk to the end where the meter taxi rank is. Meter taxis have to charge 100 baht on top of the metre charge to pick up at the airport so the price is not much different from the fixed price cabs. If you want a private car and driver to be waiting for you when you arrive to take you directly to your resort we can provide it.

South Siam Liveaboards Blessed by Buddhist Monks

On Saturday 29th September in Chalong Bay Phuket South Siam Liveaboards had their annual Buddhist blessing in preparation for the coming season.

The date coincided with the 11th anniversary of the company which was celebrated later in the evening with a party on the top floor of the Merlin hotel in Phuket City.
